Residential Building Applications
How to Submit a Building Permit Application
Projects are to be submitted digitally to the Town of Loomis using one of two ways below:
- Via email to building@loomis.ca.gov and jtibbits@loomis.ca.gov
- Via DropBox, WeTransfer, OneDrive by emailing an access link to building@loomis.ca.gov and jtibbits@loomis.ca.gov
Incomplete applications will not be accepted, and corrections will be asked of the applicant before intake of any documents or review begins. Learn more about specific permits, their requirements, and options for submittal by using the navigation menu. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure all documents and forms have been submitted.
Project Reviews
Building permit applications that are not considered over-the-counter are subject to review. When developing a project, time is of the essence to the applicant. We are committed to reviewing your project as quickly as possible. Most projects will begin with our Planning Department for a preliminary review. Preliminary review with the Planning Department can take up to 7 business days, and any additional reviews can take up to 5 business days. When the Planning Department grants preliminary approval, it will move forward to the Building Department and Engineering Department for review. Initial reviews in these departments can take up to 12 business days to complete, and any additional reviews can take up to 10 business days. Be reminded, the more accurate, thorough, and complete your responses and resubmittal package are, the more likely you are to obtain approval in a timely manner.
In-Office Review
Project reviews conducted by the Town will be completed by the building inspector. Inter-department reviews at Town Hall conducted by the Planning and/or Engineering department may also be required. Depending on the process, projects may take more or less time to review.
Third Party Review
Projects that are unable to be reviewed at Town Hall will be evaluated by Bureau Veritas in Sacramento. Inter-department reviews at Town Hall conducted by the Planning and/or Engineering department may also be required. Depending on the process, projects may take more or less time to review.
Review Results
Results of each review will be sent via email to the applicant on the building permit application. To check the status of a review or current project, please email Jordan Tibbits at jtibbits@loomis.ca.gov.
Authorization Letter
If the applicant is not the contractor or property owner, a signed letter authorizing the individual to apply on the contractor or property owner's behalf is required to obtain a building permit or business license.
Notice to Contractors
All contractors performing work within the Town of Loomis must have a Town of Loomis business license. Please visit the Planning Department's business license page to learn how to obtain a Loomis business license and submit applicable fees. Building permits will not be able to be processed if a contractor does not have a Town of Loomis business license, or if the contractor's license is not in good standing with CSLB.
